Venus in Cancer is one of the gentlest combinations in the wheel - the planet of attraction in the sign of belonging. The Two of Cups, Lord of Love, is the only decan card the Golden Dawn titled with that word directly. Two figures exchange cups beneath a winged lion's head and a caduceus. What Venus in Cancer contributes is the sense that the bond is a shelter rather than a transaction; what Cancer contributes is that it is meant to last. For timing, this decan opens at the solstice and reads as the formation of a bond rather than its consummation. The Two of Cups in a 'when' position tends to indicate a meeting that has already occurred, with the significance not yet recognised on both sides.
