Venus in Aries

Venus in Aries is the odd pairing of the sign - the planet of attraction and value in the sign of assertion. It softens the last ten degrees noticeably. The Four of Wands, Lord of Perfected Work, is the deck's most straightforwardly celebratory image: a garlanded canopy, figures raising flowers, a settlement in the background. Venus is what turns the completion of a piece of work into an occasion shared with other people rather than a private tally. Read this decan as the natural resting point at the end of a burst of Aries effort - and note that it is a resting point, not an ending. The suit continues into Leo.

Using this decan for timing

As a timing marker this decan closes a working period rather than opening one. The Four of Wands in a 'when' position often points to an event with a date already set - a completion, a move, a gathering. It is one of the few pips that reads comfortably as a literal occasion rather than a mood.

Where it sits in Aries

Aries spans thirty degrees and divides into three decans, each with its own ruler and its own card from the Suit of Wands. This one is the closing ten degrees.
