Why Wheel of Fortune carries Jupiter

Jupiter is the planet of expansion, luck and scale, and the Wheel is the card of fortune that operates above the individual. What makes the pairing precise is that neither is about deserving. Jupiter enlarges what it touches without asking whether that is fair.

The RWS Wheel is dense with lettering — TARO or ROTA around the rim, the Hebrew divine name interleaved, alchemical symbols on the spokes, and the four fixed signs of the zodiac as winged figures in the corners, each reading a book. The corners are still; only the wheel turns. That is the card's argument about fortune.

Jupiter rules Sagittarius, whose card is Temperance. Together they give the planet's two modes: the Wheel is expansion that happens to you, Temperance is expansion you steer.
