Sun in Capricorn

The Sun in Capricorn falls at the winter solstice, and the Four of Pentacles, Lord of Earthly Power, is the deck's image of holding on: a figure clutching one coin to his chest, one under each foot, one balanced on his crown, with a city behind him he has his back to. The solar influence gives the security a genuine basis - this is not poverty, it is accumulation. What the decan asks is what the grip is costing, since a person in that posture cannot use their hands for anything else.

Using this decan for timing

As a timing marker the Four of Pentacles describes a holding pattern that will persist as long as the grip does. Answering 'when', it means nothing changes on its own; the solstice timing is apt, since this is the year's most static point.

Where it sits in Capricorn

Capricorn spans thirty degrees and divides into three decans, each with its own ruler and its own card from the Suit of Pentacles. This one is the closing ten degrees.
